September 2017 Box

This month’s box represents a variety of women and organizations with diverse backgrounds that are working diligently towards similar goals of restoration and self-sufficiency. The first item included in the box is a necklace from Starfish Project. Starfish Project is a remarkable partner organization that provides shelter, counseling, and employment assistance for women escaping human trafficking in Asia. The jewelry created by these women is just a small part of the restoration process as the program helps them grow in strength and autonomy.

Also included is a broken bangle mirror from Rahab’s Rope, an organization that seeks to set women in India free from the sex trafficking industry by providing them with safe houses, meals, and vocational training. As part of cultural tradition, many women in India wear dozens of vibrant glass bangles, only taking them off when they break. The unique mirror in this box is fashioned from pieces of broken bangles into a beautiful treasure to keep as a reminder of how once broken lives can be made new and restored.

The last item in this month’s box is an eyeglasses case created by Marwa — an Iraqi refugee, a mother, and one of Anchor of Hope’s talented artisans. Marwa’s work with Anchor of Hope helps her support her family financially and strengthens her spirit as she raises her son in a foreign country with little family to support her.

We hope the special treasures in this month’s box inspire you to live with hope as you care for the needs of others!
